Greenford Quay’s annual waterside party wows families!
In rain or shine, Greenford Quay’s 2023 Canal Festival certainly didn’t disappoint. Hundreds of people visited the canalside rental neighbourhood this August Bank Holiday, for the second annual celebration of Greenford’s beautiful waterway.
A packed programme of activities welcomed West London residents and visitors to appreciate the area’s unique wildlife and diverse independent businesses. Managed by Greystar, Greenford Quay is set in an enviable waterfront location and offers high quality pet-friendly flats to rent in London. There are studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments to choose from, fantastic onsite amenities, and a welcoming community in Ealing – with events held throughout the year.
This year’s Canal Festival included a host of arts and crafts for all the family — from bug hotel building to clay bird modelling and painting. While children could discover their inner clown with performances and magic shows from Flying Seagull Circus Entertainment. Visitors could also take advantage of the tranquil waterside setting with a canal boat trip or kayaking session along the Grand Union Canal.
Greenford Quay: a place to relax
New for 2023, Lyons Retreat wellness hub offered visitors the chance to slow down and take a breath, with a host of classes and activities for the mind and body. Greenford Quay’s serene waterside location became the perfect place for yoga – a morning relaxation practice run by Alma Blue Yoga.
Anyone wishing to indulge their creative side could attend a mindfulness painting class from Sans Art or try their hand at a phone photography workshop. There was even the chance for budding artists to make their own paper and wire animal sculptures.
Nazli Hussain said there was lots to enjoy: “Family friendly, sense of community, outdoor setting, super workshops, boat ride – all free and local – and I learnt some new skills.” Another visitor Chandan Bhati added: “There was a good atmosphere and activities for the kids.”
Those with green fingers could head to The Lock — another new addition for this year’s Canal Festival — where London community garden experts Urban Growth ran a programme of gardening sessions. Visitors could make their own Kimchi, become a rebel gardener by creating seed bombs or take part in a Japanese Kokedama workshop.
Summer fun for everyone
Elsewhere there were garden games including mini crazy golf, and a street market and bar serving up delicious food and drink, all set to a backdrop of great tunes and live music.
There was a real party atmosphere, with everyone enjoying the many activities on offer, despite the wet weather. One attendee, Kari, said: “It was very social, nice to meet neighbours and enjoy something different from other weekends.”
The Lock at Greenford Quay, offering one, two and three bedroom apartments for sale, were the proud sponsors of this year’s Canal Festival. A representative from Telford Homes said: “The Greenford Quay neighbourhood is forging an incredible community, which is essential in creating the best places to live. The team at The Lock are proud to work in partnership with Greystar to create a destination that brings people together.”
“The summer event programme provides the perfect summer experience, bringing together Greenford Quay residents, the local community and beyond to enjoy classic films, food and drinks!”
