Greenford Quay launches its annual summer series with a weekend of food, music and good vibes
A long summer of family fun kicked off with Eats & Beats, Greenford Quay’s first-ever sunset market. The event was a chance for our special West London community to welcome the warmer evenings with delicious street food, live music, mini golf and garden games.
Our partners at Trash & Treasure brought together local vendors to provide a tasty selection of bites from around the world including; Sarv’s Slice sourdough pizza, gourmet burgers from Smash ‘n’ Slide, The Spice Shack’s Indian street food and fluffy doughnuts from Hamilton Dessert Co. Not to mention a menu of signature summer cocktails and locally brewed craft beer.
What’s your jam?
This was all set to a soundtrack of the ultimate summer jams, courtesy of Mothers of Music. International DJ David Cardoso got the party started with his special selection of dance hall beats, before vocalist Alicia Tyra took to the stage. Closing the evening, David got back on the decks for a truly special sunset performance with sax player Alex Chadwick.
The event was the first from Greenford Quay’s special summer series 2023. The London rental apartments, nestled on the banks of Ealing’s Grand Union Canal, offer premium studios, one, two and three bedroom flats to rent, fantastic amenities and a year-round calendar of community events.
Garden party brings Greenford Quay to life
The fun continued the next day as Greenford Quay played host to a special garden party – complete with creative workshops, food demonstrations and more live music. Visitors to the Greenford flats could challenge their friends and family to a game of mini golf or giant Jenga, get their face painted or hop on a boat for a trip down the canal.
There was also plenty to get those creative juices flowing, with a series of artistic workshops held throughout the afternoon for children and adults. People could have a go at making their own instruments from everyday objects, learn how to make cyanotype prints using historical printmaking processes or create colourful flags in a community bunting workshop. An Islamic geometry session also taught people the special art of painting mandalas and patterns.
It was a chance to be inspired to try something new.
Later in the evening, the crowd enjoyed live performances from singer and pianist Lora, as well as Greenford Quay favourite Khaya Fhaya who returned to hype the crowd with his high-energy show.
Dine out with Street Food Saturdays
Greenford Quay’s first Street Food Saturday provided refreshments throughout the day. There was also a chance to learn how to make the best gyoza, thanks to a food demonstration from the brilliant Rainbo.
We would like to thank all our vendors who helped to make our summer kick off such a success. They were:
Rainbo – gyoza and boa buns
Smash ‘n’ Slide – brisket sandwiches and gourmet burgers
The Spice Shack – Indian Street food
Sarv’s Slice – Neapolitan sourdough pizza
9000bc – bubble tea, waffles and dumplings
The Last Piece Bakery – miniature bakes
Hamilton Dessert Co. – doughnuts and crème brûlée
London Craft – mobile bar
